I was blessed to be born and raised in Hawaii to Christian parents who took me to church every time the doors were open. I learned that Jesus comes first from a young age because of my parents’ example. When I was a preteen, I decided that I wanted to become a missionary.
I was homeschooled all my life until I finished and went to college. I went on to study at Bob Jones University and graduated in 2007. During the summers, I came back and worked at the same Christian camp in Waianae that I attended as a teen. It was during those summers that I realized I wanted to be a “missionary” to the keiki of Hawaii, and specifically Waianae, my home since I was 9 years old. So as soon as I graduated, I came back and taught summer school at Maili Bible School, a ministry of my home church. I taught here for 9 years.
When my husband and I were expecting our first child, I transitioned to office work for a little over two years, until I became a stay-at-home mom. I’ve spent almost 6 years at home raising our 3 children, and now they will all be attending Maili Bible School, and I am returning to teaching. I am excited to resume my service and ministry to the keiki and families on the west coast of Oahu. Maili Bible School is special to our entire family as my husband attended from 2nd grade until he graduated, and he now serves on the school board.
My life verse is 1 Samuel 12:24: “Only fear the Lord and serve Him in truth with all your heart: for consider what great things He hath done for you.”
